Receptor Hardware
During the lifespan of Muse Research there were ?? versions of the Receptor publicly available.
Muse Receptor V1
The initial foray into hardware was the lowly spec’d Receptor which we will call Version 1. Identified by the traditional blue fascia panel, and by default a 40gb hard drive, 256mb ram and an AMD Athlon CPU. RAM could be expanded to 2gb and the drive could be replaced with a larger capacity drive (explained here) if you have some tech skills. The drives being magnetic were prone to failure and I personally recommend cloning the drive to a more stable SSD drive if you have the ability to. Able to run some of your bog standard VST’s but not much good with larger software such as Omnisphere or Komplete for example.
Muse Receptor V2
The Receptor 2 family started shipping in 2006 and had a couple of variants per below.
The table below lists the factory standard models, of course there were options depending on place of purchase where you could add more ram, change the drive to a faster SSD and in some instances have different factory installed software installed by default.
